[Action Required] Do I need to keep posting videos on this blog?

One of the many things I've learned at YouTube camp last week is that it's important to have a presence on the social media platforms where your audience hangs out. Apparently, the whole world hangs out on Instagram and blogs are no longer in vogue. So here are my questions to you:

1) Do any of you rely on this blog to be notified of my new videos?

2) If the answer to the first question is yes, could you subscribe to my YouTube Channel directly? If you want to be notified when I post new videos, you can hit a little bell button after subscribing.

Last week, I made an Instagram account, so if that's the social media drug of your choice, you can follow me on Instagram.  There is also a Facebook option.

Since I don't have a social media department, it would save me a lot of time not to have to make unnecessary posts on this blog.  I will still post occasional non-video content, like trip reports.  Thank you so much for providing me with inspiration, wonderful questions, and insightful comments.

  1. I much prefer to manage my media consumption via RSS feeds (RIP Google Reader, but Feedly works well enough). I can go there on my terms and see what's new since my last visit. I had previously subscribed to your YouTube channel because I know subscribers matter, but am not interested in notifications. I'll just have to make a point to visit on a regular basis. I do use Instagram (mainly to look at food photos) so will follow you there.

  2. Just figured out there's a way to create an RSS feed from a YouTube channel. Use this for Helen's Kitchen: https://www.youtube.com/feeds/videos.xml?channel_id=UCdTLhjAGVI_XDAuXrobtI6Q

  3. Hi Kari,

  4. Youtube is great, but I am a fan of having commentary in the text form that's easy to view and read. I usually discover recipes on Youtube, but if a blog o a web page is available, I inevitably switch to it. Much easier for finding little special details.

  5. Hi Vlad,

So glad your pate a choux worked well :) Thanks for the feedback on written recipes. I am trying to figure out a written recipe system because some people like recipes more than videos.

    Cheers,
